This role offers an opportunity to work as a full-time production welder in a busy machine shop, focusing on high-volume, repetitive welds on mild steel sub-assemblies and assemblies. You will use fixtures and guides to perform consistent MIG and TIG welds, interpret shop drawings and weld symbols, and support the fabrication process in a collaborative, tight-knit welding team.
You will join a tight-knit team where people enjoy working together and often stay for many years, reflecting a supportive and stable work culture. The position is part of a union shop that offers strong benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, with a significant portion of medical costs covered and access to lower insurance premiums through the union. You will have access to a comprehensive benefits package that includes sick pay, paid vacation, and paid holidays, supporting a healthy work-life balance. The retirement offerings include a SEP IRA plan and a self-funded pension plan through the union, providing meaningful long-term financial security.
The work takes place in an industrial machine shop that is greasy and dirty but well sectioned and organized, with designated areas for different functions. Welders are grouped in the same area of the shop, working alongside a team of approximately 7–9 welders, each with their own areas of focus, fostering collaboration and specialization. The role follows a daytime schedule, typically Monday through Friday, with shifts running from either 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The environment involves regular use of welding and fabrication equipment, including MIG and TIG welding machines, band saws, drill presses, grinding tools, and various hand and layout tools, in a setting that requires comfort with industrial conditions and appropriate work attire suitable for a dirty shop.
