SummaryThe Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position's primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management such as cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities. They work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new teammates and provide leadership. They also share responsibility for training, motivating teammates and acting as the Store Manager in the Manager's absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and therefore includes additional high level duties specific to that position, though the majority of duties and responsibilities are shared.Compensation & BenefitsPay range: $20-$24/hr. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Sales Generation and Guest ServiceGreet guests with a friendly, engaging attitude and provide legendary service.Answer questions regarding store and merchandise, recommend, select, and help locate items.Anticipate and fulfill guest needs, suggest additional items, create a wardrobe experience.Demonstrate product knowledge and share with teammates.Maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.Remain consistent on personal sales, aim for sales‑per‑hour, average sales and total net sales goals.Provide legendary service throughout front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area.Know all exchange and return procedures and turn them into show‑making opportunities.Use the Sales Presentation Guide daily to accomplish goals.Meet or exceed performance standards for Buckle business builders and guest loyalty.Investigate and expand guest selection through inventory manager, product search, iPad apps.Build good guest relationships and lead by example with show‑making, excellent customer service.Recognize guest levels and communicate with team.Ask business‑driven and show‑making questions to manager, teammates.Coachable and accept feedback from manager.Maintain high standards in absence of manager.Plan sales goals with store manager.Demonstrate ownership of store's sales performance.Passion for product education and show‑making.Teammate Recruiting, Training and DevelopmentRecognize recruiting opportunities via jobs & careers cards, email referrals and teammate recommend.Coach and collaborate through guest loyalty and guest preferred.Develop skills and lead, direct, motivate and educate new teammates.Maintain positive floor culture and personal dress code.Participate in daily setup, training, and performance tracker.Motivate teammates to complete daily tasks.Demonstrate, coach and influence denim show‑making and fit cards.Balance department actions, mid‑week check‑in and weekly delegation worksheet.Lead during segments and engage guests with products.Communicate with teammates, update leaders.Remember guest names.Show merchandise of both sides of the store.Partner with store manager on education focus and delegate weekly focus.Help execute all segments to support business goals.Assist in recruiting for all staffing needs.Explain pay and Buckle benefits.Keep contact list current and add top talent.Execute training on leadership playbook, responsibility of characteristic pieces, SPG shifts.Train and coach non‑sales positions.Follow through on training needs.Visual Merchandise ManagementOwn and influence product through zone ownership, assign zones and projects.Execute and demonstrate new tools and videos for zone ownership.Partner with store manager to review all 4 zones.Confirm teammates follow visual standards and checklist.Identify merchandising opportunities and recommend solutions.Provide store tours and ensure consistent display.Improve store performance via performance tracker.Anticipate changes in product and act independently.Maintain visual standards on floor and backroom.OperationsWork flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekdays, weekends, holidays.Use planner for opening and closing checklists.Identify security risks and handle theft prevention.Follow loss prevention guidelines and bag checks.Teach all point‑of‑sale procedures.Answer corporate calls appropriately.Maintain positive attitude with guests and teammates.Apply policies on payments, returns, exchanges, loss prevention.Use home page tools, give feedback to non‑sales positions.Cover shifts and keep store organized.Provide feedback to manager and leadership on merchandise concerns.Communicate policy violations confidentially to manager, district manager, HR.Apply code of ethics and policies.Other duties as assigned.Complete new‑hire paperwork promptly.Plan week/month/year, train others on opening/closing, handle markdowns, pulls, freight, RTVs.Establish relationships with corporate departments.Maintain inventory of supplies.Handle emergencies in manager's absence per guidelines.Supervisory and LeadershipComfortable giving and receiving feedback.Support leadership, promote growth.Show professional, mature, stable relationships.Conduct daily interviews for team development.Problem‑solve and overcome objections.Self‑educate on company tools and share information.Administer Buckle commitment to success.Travel to cover other stores if needed.Handle schedule changes professionally.Serve mission with high customer service and team spirit.Complete special projects and other duties.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesAssists the store manager in supervising.Education And/or ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED; or one to three months related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Additional QualificationsRelocation may be required.No visa sponsorship available.Ability to operate motor vehicle and travel, including overnight as required.Physical DemandsRegular standing, walking, hand use, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking or hearing. Occasional sitting. Ability to lift and maneuver 50 lbs.
