We are currently seeking a full-time yard-assistant for our Healdsburg branch.Under direct supervision, yard assistants perform a variety of general manual labor tasks including but not limited to, lifting and moving materials, loading and unloading of trucks, and other activities in a helping or assisting role.Mon - Fri, starting @ 10am. $20 per hourKey CompetenciesBuilding Collaborative RelationshipsInnovation / CreativityAdaptabilityDeveloping Self & OthersPrincipal AccountabilitiesDuties may include, once properly trained and certified as required: yard clean up, product receiving, breakdown, product handling and operating yard equipment such as the saws or tugPick up all foreign material in yard in order to maintain a safe work environment and clean appearanceCollect recyclable materials and store as directedSweep the yard safely using a mechanical sweeper if availableReview supply inventory with Supervisor to maintain necessary levelNotify Supervisor of any maintenance or safety issues observedManually stack lumber products as instructedAssist with inventory and/or cycle counts as directedMay operate a gas powered tug to move lumber productsPackage materials and keep packaging area clean and organizedAssist in keeping all lanes and other areas clean and clear for trafficMay assist in general yard housekeeping and chores as assignedMay use saw to cut lengths from lumber as needed to fill an order if properly trainedKeep an inventory of stickers, corners and wrapMay occasionally bar codePerform other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during the course of employment.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities0 to 2 years previous experience industryGood knowledge of lumber productsAbility to model the Capital values and to provide innovative solutionsAbility to deliver high quality, detailed error free work on a consistent basisAbility to read, write, speak and understand English to the extent required to receive and communicate information as necessary to the position.Ability to deliver high quality, detailed error free work on a consistent basisAbilitiesMust be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 poundsMust be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workdayMust be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workdayWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, and moving mechanical parts and vibrations. Work is performed outdoors, and employee is exposed to variety of extreme weather conditions at the distribution warehouse.
