Sutter Health Nursing Leadership Position

Manages and provides operational and nursing leadership ensuring the quality of nursing care within preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative areas. Plans and organizes operations and resources to ensure effective and efficient delivery of patient care consistent with applicable laws, standards and regulations. Provides patient care and acts as a resource person to the staff and assures patient care needs are met in the department. Demonstrates critical thinking skills and, in collaboration with other disciplines, surgeons, anesthesiologists, is able to coordinate unit activities, staffing plans and contributes to resolving inter and intra departmental problems. Assesses the quality of care delivered and provides input for staff mentoring/evaluation, staffing, hiring, performance management and general daily operation of the unit. Establishes protocols and practices, ensuring compliance with department, affiliate, operating unit, and/or system standards, policies and procedures, the Joint Commission (TJC) standards, and applicable laws and regulations. Provides guidance and/or direct intervention in resolving challenging or complex situations.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. RN-Registered Nurse of California. BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider.

Typical experience: 8 years of recent relevant experience. Skills and knowledge include solid understanding of operations and workflows, demonstrated leadership skills, solid clinical proficiency, knowledge of state/federal/local and/or accreditation standards, understanding of healthcare financial environment, ability to develop and manage a budget, ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, organizational and time management skills, customer service focus, ability to work with a diverse population, working knowledge of wage and hour laws.

Job shift: Days. Schedule: Full Time. Days of the week: Monday - Friday. Weekend requirements: As needed. Benefits: Yes. Unions: No. Position status: Exempt. Weekly hours: 40. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
