Location: Southern California (Preferred) or Midwest (MN / IL)

Work Arrangement: 100% Remote (Field-Based Position)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 DOE + Bonus

Position Summary

A growing food company isseeking a Business Development Manager to drive sales growth and strengthen customer relationships within the foodservice and retail sectors. This position is responsible for managing existing accounts, developing new business opportunities, supporting contract negotiations, and collaborating with distribution partners to expand market presence.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing chain accounts, contract-based sales, distributor relationships, and long-term customer partnerships within the food, beverage, or consumer goods industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities to expand sales.
  • Manage sales activities for retail take-out sushi programs and foodservice customers through distribution channels.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, and distribution channels.
  • Prepare customer proposals, pricing structures, annual contracts, and sales presentations.
  • Collaborate with distributors and internal stakeholders to support customer growth and business expansion.
  • Monitor sales performance, demand forecasts, and inventory requirements for assigned product lines.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support product launches, promotions, and customer initiatives.
  • Manage administrative and reporting responsibilities related to assigned product categories.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of B2B sales, business development, account management, or related experience.
  • Experience managing customer relationships and contract-based sales activities.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel as needed for customer meetings and industry events.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Business-level English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the food, beverage, foodservice, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry.
  • Experience working with distributors, wholesalers, or foodservice channels.
  • Experience managing national accounts, chain accounts, or contract-based business relationships.
  • Experience with pricing analysis, cost calculations, annual contract negotiations, or business planning.
  • Experience with Japanese, Asian, or international food products is a plus.
  • Japanese language skills are a plus but not required.

Travel Requirements
  • Company sales meetings at headquarters approximately twice per year.

Core Working Hours
  • Flexible work schedule with core business hours from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
