Salary placement is based on academic and teaching experience. Initial Step placement will be at Step 1 pending evaluation of experience as outlined in the AFA Contract Article 27.Benefits: Medical insurance is offered to eligible faculty. Additional information can be found on the Benefits page.Sick leave accrues on a pro‑rated basis in accordance with Article 18 of the AFA Contract.Retirement: SRJC offers CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance and Social Security options for Associate Faculty. Eligibility is determined by prior CalSTRS membership status.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, including evening, weekend, online, hybrid and/or off‑campus assignments.Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender‑identity, sexual‑orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.Focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services.May be asked to provide additional services (committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, hiring committees) for additional compensation.Provide reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.Selection ProcessApplications are reviewed continuously. Candidates may be invited to interview with a Screening and Interviewing Committee and will remain in the pool for up to four years if not assigned immediately.Department DescriptionSanta Rosa Junior College's Department of Chemistry & Physics is staffed by contract and associate instructors. The department offers day and evening classes at Santa Rosa and Petaluma campuses and maintains well‑equipped laboratories with advanced instruments such as GC/MS, NMR, FTIR, XRF, Fast Sequential AA, gas chromatographs and UV‑VIS spectrometers.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in Chemistry; orBachelor's in Chemistry or Biochemistry AND a Master's in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, Physics, Molecular Biology or Geochemistry; orEquivalency as determined by California Community College Instructor's Credential in Chemistry or Biochemistry.Sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender‑identity, sexual‑orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and anti‑racism.Advanced degree in physical, analytical, inorganic, organic chemistry or biochemistry.Experience in instrumental techniques.Commitment to the use of computer technology in the learning environment.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Recent experience teaching rigorous lecture and laboratory courses comparable to those offered at SRJC.#J-18808-Ljbffr
