Chief Financial Officer, Health ServicesLocation: County of Sonoma, Santa Rosa, CA, United StatesAbout the PositionThe Department of Health Services seeks an experienced and collaborative candidate to oversee financial operations and strategy for the department. Reporting directly to the Director of Health Services, this executive-level role helps guide the planning, organization, and oversight of the department's $545.9 million budget and fiscal operations.Key responsibilities include:Managing major departmental initiatives and leading budget development and fiscal oversightSecuring and administering grant funding to enhance community health programsActing on behalf of the Director when needed and serving as primary liaison with state, federal, and local partnersRepresenting the department in public forums and community engagementsKey QualificationsDesired skills and experience:Experience managing dynamic and complex financial systems for health or human services organizations at the county or state levelProficiency in developing and implementing departmental goals, policies, and initiatives with a long‑term visionSubject‑matter expertise in government finance and health or human services, including knowledge of federal claiming, Medi‑Cal billing, and behavioral health system billingAbility to create meaningful change within evolving environments and represent the department before governing bodies, agencies, and the communityCollaborative management style that fosters teamwork, coordination, and a positive work environmentUnderstanding of aligning departmental actions with board and county prioritiesData‑informed skillset in program evaluation, research methods, and performance measurementPublic‑relations advocacy skills for building community trust and articulating department initiatives effectivelyCommitment to ethical, transparent, and equitable service deliveryEducation & ExperienceMinimum of 4 years of increasingly responsible management experience in a large organization, including program planning and evaluation, budget management, personnel management, policy development, and community services. Experience managing a health services organization or large division is highly desirable.Academic background in health‑care administration, public administration, hospital administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
