IONS has a vibrant volunteer program that gives college students, professionals, and community supporters the opportunity to work with our Science and Experience teams.
Volunteers are assigned a mentor/supervisor and typically a specific project to work on. Volunteer time commitments vary. Some volunteers work a few hours for a time‑sensitive project, like mailings or copying. Other volunteers commit a regular number of hours each week (usual range is 3‑20). Volunteer positions are unpaid and IONS does not provide assistance in securing housing for those coming from out of the area or travel to and from the IONS office.
We have project‑based volunteer opportunities that may include:
General: Excellent writing, verbal, and computer skills. The ability to receive guidance and then work independently is essential. Specialized qualifications may be required for specific projects.
Additional qualifications for Research Interns: Familiarity with data management and/or analysis, statistical analysis, and understanding the general process of scientific research.
We will review your application and if your skills, interests, and availability are a good match with our current volunteer projects we will contact you to set up an interview. We regret that we are not able to fulfill all requests for volunteer opportunities, but we appreciate you taking the time to apply, and we will keep you in our database for a year.
We look forward to receiving your application!
