About the Opportunity

Encipher AI has partnered with a rapidly scaling AI infrastructure startup building next-generation communication systems powered by AI workflows. With exceptional traction, top-tier investors, and a lean, high-performing team, they're now looking to hire a Staff Backend Software Engineer to help scale systems processing billions of messages every month.

What You'll Do

• Build and own highly scalable backend systems powering billions of messages monthly

• Design, ship, and optimise distributed systems in a fast-paced production environment

• Drive significant technical impact across core infrastructure and backend architecture

• Work closely with a small, elite engineering team to rapidly iterate and deploy features

• Solve complex scaling and reliability challenges for a rapidly growing customer base

• Help push the boundaries of AI-driven communication workflows

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of backend software engineering experience with strong career progression

• Deep hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS infrastructure

• Strong knowledge of scalable distributed systems and backend architecture

• Experience with AWS services such as SQS, EC2, ELB, S3, and DynamoDB

• Startup mindset with high ownership and ability to move quickly in ambiguous environments

• Strong communication skills and desire to work in a high-performance, low-ego team

• React.js/frontend experience is a bonus but not required
