Optify Search are currently partnered with an innovative global manufacturer searching for a Principal Level Mechanical Design Engineer to be the technical design lead of PECVD reactor equipment in High-Vacuum for an innovative Semiconductor company based in San Francisco.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor engineers while driving projects that span multiple company departments
• Oversee manufacturing of machined components and transition designs from R&D to production, balancing performance and cost
• Design and develop advanced reactor systems and components, applying expertise in machine design, mechanics, thermals, and fluids
• Perform analytical and numerical analysis to evaluate and validate designs
• Manage prototyping, documentation, and fabrication, working closely with machine shops and vendors
• Troubleshoot and optimise existing reactor hardware to improve productivity, yield, and reliability

Key Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in mechanical design; advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering preferred
• Expert-level experience designing high-vacuum systems; background in semiconductor tools, accelerators, or vacuum electronics
• Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks) and PLM systems (Teamcenter)
• Extensive knowledge of manufacturing methods with hands-on machining experience
• Experience designing electromechanical systems
• Hands-on, creative, and problem-solving mindset with proven leadership capability
