Simulation Platform Engineer

  2026-05-09     Saragossa     Sonoma,CA
Description:

Looking to build the production infrastructure powering physics simulations that no other team on Earth is running?

A well-funded, venture-backed insurtech — on track to profitability after just two years — is hiring a Simulation Platform Engineer as they expand nationwide and into new perils. This isn't gluing together APIs for a SaaS dashboard. You're building the compute backbone beneath digital twins that model how wildfire, wind, and flood interact with individual homes.

This company doesn't price risk by zip code. They simulate the actual physics — CFD, multiphysics solvers, geospatial data pipelines — and they need someone who can make that machinery run reliably, at scale, in production. Traditional insurance has nothing like it.

You'll own the simulation and digital twin platform end to end: production pipeline reliability, CI/CD across simulation and ML workflows, geospatial data processing, annotation and QC systems, and the buildout of new peril capabilities as the business grows. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Physics Simulation Engineers, ML Engineers, and domain SMEs — translating their modeling needs into infrastructure that actually ships.

You're the right person if you have 5+ years building and maintaining production-grade simulation, data, or modeling pipelines — with real automation, monitoring, and alerting — and you've debugged distributed, data-heavy systems that span preprocessing, modeling, and downstream consumers. You're comfortable with cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD at depth. You treat pipelines as long-lived products, not one-off scripts. A Bachelor's or Master's in Physics, CS, Engineering, Applied Math, or a related field is expected.

Strong plus: experience supporting physics-based or CFD workflows in production, hands-on work with geospatial data stacks (LiDAR, DEMs, digital twins), collaboration with ML engineers on training pipelines, and a track record shipping in startup environments where speed and reliability both matter.

Compensation: $200,000-$240,000 base + equity +benefits. Reach out to discuss specifics.
