Employee Relations & Compliance Manager

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)

Schedule: Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Compensation: $85,000–$120K (Exempt)

Full-Time | Direct Hire

We are partnering with a mission-driven behavioral health organization to identify an experienced Employee Relations & Compliance Manager. This role serves as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters and ensures compliance with employment laws, internal policies, and HR systems. The position partners closely with leadership to support employee well-being, mitigate risk, and strengthen a positive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues with professionalism and sound judgment
  • Coach and advise managers on performance management, conflict resolution, and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Manage leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, PDL) and workers' compensation
  • Maintain HR policies, documentation, and audit readiness
  • Serve as primary administrator for UKG; manage data, reporting, and process improvements
  • Partner cross-functionally on onboarding, offboarding, and organizational initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on employee relations and compliance
  • Experience handling complex ER cases and LOA/workers' comp
  • HRIS experience required (UKG preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of employment law
  • HR certification, nonprofit/behavioral health, or union experience a plus
