We are looking for a regular dog care person for our 11-year old dog, Roxy. She's about 50 pounds, mixed breed, friendly with humans, muscular and energetic, and playful. Roxy is somewhat dependent in her personality: she doesn't do well being left alone and we have not left her on her own for more than an hour or so. We either take her with us or if that's not feasible we've been using in-home dog boarding and daycare services. She needs to be the "only dog" as she doesn't do well with others. I am seeking to build a list of people who would be interested in providing care for Roxy in our home, or theirs.
The elements we are looking for::
*Roxy will not be left on her own for any length of time; the sitter will be with her or will take her along on errands
*No other dogs or cats, just Roxy--she's a possessive alpha female who doesn't reliably share well with other dogs Sometimes she loves another dog and will run and play endlessly, and sometimes she really doesn't. And she doesn't share her toys readily.
*Plenty of exercise and play
We sometimes need dog sitting when we go out for the evening, with the care period being from about 3 or 4 pm through 9 to 10 pm. Sometimes it's afternoons, from about noon through 6pm. Sometimes it's all day or an overnight or two. Once in a while we go away for as long as two weeks.
The care provided is preferably in the caregiver's home, but could be in ours for daycare or short overnight stays.
Would you be able to accommodate our needs and preferences? If so, I'd love to arrange a "meet and greet" to see if it is a good fit.
