Our client is a high-growth AI startup in the life sciences space that's already working with some of the world's largest pharmaceutical organizations. This is a rare opportunity to join a tiny, elite engineering team building production-grade AI systems that directly impact how critical drugs get to market faster.

The Opportunity

You'll be a core backend engineer owning and scaling real-world systems, not internal tools or experiments. The platform you build will be used by tens of thousands of users inside highly regulated, global enterprises.

What You'll Be Working On

• Designing and scaling backend systems in production
• Building APIs from scratch using modern Python frameworks (FastAPI, Django, etc.)
• Implementing GenAI workflows (RAG, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks)
• Deploying and scaling containerized services in the cloud (AWS preferred)
• Collaborating closely with product, medical, and customer-facing teams

What We're Looking For (Non-Negotiable)

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience while physically working in the US
• (Remote work for a US company while abroad does not qualify)
• Strong Python backend experience
• Hands-on experience building GenAI applications
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, containers, and CI/CD
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership startup environment
• Open to hybrid, in-office work in San Francisco (4–5 days/week)
• Open to immediate relocation if not already local

Nice to Have

• Experience in regulated industries (life sciences, fintech, compliance)
• Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or Pulumi)
• Some frontend exposure (React)
