JOB TITLE: Holistic Supportive Counselor
STATUS: Full-time, Permanent
FLSA: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Tribal WrapAround Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A

WORKING HOURS: This position has regular business hours but may require work in early mornings, evenings, and weekends. May be required to perform after-hours standby services as needed or some evening work.

SUMMARY: This position will be tasked with supporting holistic healing, encompassing mind, body, and spirit, in both individual and group environments through supportive counseling for those with substance use disorders. Organizing and delivering educational experiences that promote traditional practices and indigenous methods aimed at restoring personal harmony within the domains of self, culture, and community.

This role involves providing holistic supportive counseling to those with substance used disorders based on traditional knowledge of art, lifeways, and customs. The position offers services to clients both one-on-one and in group formats, with the goal of addressing their traditional health goals.

Collaborate closely with the Tribal WrapAround and behavioral health to deliver traditional and cultural services to individuals, families, and the wider community. Offer one-on-one traditional and cultural support aimed at strengthening tribal identity, enhancing cultural ties, and cultivating spiritual understanding.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Facilitate talking circles.
2. Co-facilitate White Bison Curriculum-based groups.
3. Deliver education on cleansing, purification, and centering practices.
4. Participate as a member of the integrated care team to assess and implement traditional and cultural care approaches for individuals, families, and the community.
5. Offer culturally focused sessions to individuals.
6. Deliver traditional health education through artistic expression, lifeways, and spiritual teachings.
7. Lead groups centered on traditional health.
8. Collaborate closely with behavioral health staff to support the cultural and spiritual objectives of clients.
9. Offer traditional knowledge, cultural teachings, and education, enabling staff, families, and communities to learn and integrate traditional wellness practices into their everyday lives.
10. Deliver culturally sensitive services and support to individuals seeking harmony across emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental dimensions.
11. Respect and accommodate the diversity of healing ways and practices requested by clients as much as possible.
12. Facilitate holistic supportive counseling and provide cultural assistance in a safe and respectful environment.
13. Work collaboratively to develop treatment plan goals with clients.
14. Adhere to established protocols for ceremonies, celebrations, and feasts.
15. Collaborate with healthcare providers through consultation and referrals when necessary.
16. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of client information.
17. Provide mentorship and create learning opportunities for agency staff, individuals, families, and community members alike.
18. Advise staff regarding holistic wellness protocols.
19. Maintain a professional and cooperative relationship with all programs involved with providing services to the tribal community and partner agency of Tribal WrapAround.
20. Participate in continuing cultural knowledge, which promote personal and professional growth.
21. Shall dress in a respectful manner and maintain a respectful demeanor and presentation at all times.
22. Meets with leadership, clinical, and consultation for discussions and clarification on various issues as necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no direct reports for supervisory responsibilities for this position, but the position does require oversight, guidance, and direction.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
1. Verifiable learning and mentorship under a reputable Traditional elder.
2. Possess minimum of 3 years' experience working within tribal community(s) providing holistic supportive counseling services (art, ceremony, plant medicine, etc).
3. Must have advanced knowledge of Pomo or neighboring Northern California tribal cultural practices
4. Experienced group facilitator
5. Extensive knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health, and crisis intervention.
6. Exemplary interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff with demonstrated poise, tact, integrity, and professionalism.
7. Excellent crisis de-escalation and communication skills are required.
8. Demonstrated intellectual independence and initiative and willingness to learn new skills.
9. Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality concerning all matters about the Tribe.
10. Demonstrates a healthy lifestyle and serves as a positive community role model.
11. Upholds professional judgment, tact, ethics, sensitivity, integrity, and confidentiality.
12. Collaborates with others to accomplish shared objectives, showing respect, cooperation, and teamwork.
13. Dedicated to ensuring client cultural and spiritual safety and exercises guidance respectfully.
14. Must be able to always represent the community in a positive fashion through one's actions and words.

TRIBAL AND INDIAN PREFERENCE

Under the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (25 U.S.C. ยง 450e (b)), the Dry Creek Rancheria applies the policy of "Tribal and Indian Preference" when filling vacancies. Tribal and Indian Preference shall be given to qualified applicants who are enrolled members of a federally recognized Indian tribe or band. EDUCATION:
1. Formal/Informal education on holistic supportive counseling is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
1. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to speak Pomo is highly desired.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to the successful conduct of this position.
3. Ability to write accurate, grammatically correct, polished reports and business correspondence.
4. Must be able to speak with the public professionally.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
1. Must have basic math skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide).

REASONING ABILITY:
1. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
2. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
3. Ability to process detailed work and requests for information or assistance in a timely manner.
4. Ability to apply regulatory and procedure doctrine, concepts, and policy to practical situations.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
1. Must possess a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.
2. Must be able to be credentialed in California.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
2. Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
3. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
