Job Overview

Gallaher Signature Living is seeking a part-time Dishwasher to join our Varenna team. In alignment with Gallaher Signature Living's (GSL) mission and values, the Dishwasher is responsible for ensuring that all dishes and utensils are returned to thekitchen, thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored at all times. The Dishwasher plays an important role in supporting a high-end, boutique-style active adult living environment by maintaining exceptional cleanliness and sanitation standards that contribute to an elevated dining and hospitality experience.

All responsibilities must be performed in accordance with Company policies and procedures, applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including California Title 22 Community Care Licensing requirements, and current standards and guidelines. This position does not provide direct resident care and performs duties under the supervision of the Dining Services Director or designee.

Compensation: $18.00-$21.00/hour depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the dish room and work areas prior to meal service to support a refined, restaurant-quality dining experience.
  • Transport all soiled dishes and utensils to the kitchen following meal preparation and service times in a timely and professional manner.
  • Wash, sanitize, and properly air-dry dishes and utensils to prevent cross-contamination, in accordance with California Title 22 and local health department standards.
  • Ensure dishes, glassware, and utensils meet high-end presentation and cleanliness standards before returning them to service areas.
  • Return clean dishes and utensils to designated storage areas in an organized and sanitary manner.
  • Assist with kitchen breakdown and cleanup after meal service while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Perform general cleaning and sanitation of the dish room, kitchen, dining areas, steam tables, range hoods, sinks, and drains to uphold the boutique aesthetic and hospitality standards of the community.
  • Empty trash and dispose of food and waste discreetly and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment in compliance with California Title 22, local health codes, and Company food safety policies.
  • Interact with residents in a respectful, dignified, and professional manner in accordance with Title 22 resident rights and GSL's hospitality-forward culture.
  • Respond to resident concerns in a professional and caring manner, recognizing that every interaction
  • contributes to the overall resident experience; elevate issues to a supervisor when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate awareness of each resident as an individual and support a luxury, service-oriented, resident-centered environment.
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, team members, and visitors in accordance with California Title 22, including adherence to:
    • Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP)
    • Universal Precautions and Bloodborne Pathogens protocols
    • Evacuation and Disaster Preparedness Plans
    • Resident Elopement procedures
  • Observe and promptly report any unusual resident behavior, unsafe conditions, or suspected changes in condition to the appropriate supervisor, in accordance with Title 22 reporting requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident information in accordance with Title 22 and Company policy.
  • Report occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, or hazardous chemicals in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required training, in-services, and mandatory meetings as required by California Title 22 and state licensure and maintain required certifications and documentation.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, including working evenings, weekends, holidays, and additional shifts as necessary to ensure seamless dining operations.
  • Exhibit professionalism, poise, tact, and friendliness when interacting with residents, families, visitors, coworkers, and the public, consistent with a high-end boutique living environment.
  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with coworkers and other departments to deliver a cohesive hospitality experience.
  • Support the Community's marketing efforts through positive, polished, and professional interactions during tours and telephone inquiries, recognizing the importance of first impressions.
  • Report suspected abuse, neglect, or unsafe conditions immediately in accordance with Title 22 mandatory reporting requirements.
  • Participate in daily stand-up meetings to communicate key departmental priorities and uphold service excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience working in a kitchen, restaurant, hospitality, or similar environment preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate standard kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Ability to work effectively with seniors, including individuals with cognitive impairments, while maintaining a hospitality-focused mindset.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment, including copier, telephone, time clock, postage machine, and medical alert systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, healthcare professionals, residents, and families.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR, and Food Handler certifications as required.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and required health screenings within 72 hours of the start date.
