Job Title: Billing Specialist

Location: 2403 Professional Dr, Santa Rosa, CA (In-person)

Pay Rate: $30.00 - $32.00/hour (non-exempt)

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
Reports to: RVP

Job Summary

Join Center Point DAAC, a leading organization in substance abuse treatment, as a Billing Specialist. For over 50 years, we have provided comprehensive and compassionate treatment to individuals and families. Our mission is to combat social problems such as substance abuse, poverty, unemployment, and homelessness through rehabilitation and treatment services. As a Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement for our services, supporting our continued commitment to providing high-quality care.

Responsibilities
  • Process medical claims for insurance reimbursement (Medicare, Medicaid, private payers).
  • Verify patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims.
  • Follow up on claim status and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with changing regulations and billing guidelines.
  • Provide support and guidance to clinical staff on billing-related matters, including charting requirements.
  • Assist employees with billing questions and concerns, providing training and support as needed.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in electronic health records (EHRs) and billing software.
  • Utilize Excel and spreadsheets to analyze data, track trends, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and submit weekly billing reports to the Regional Vice President (RVP), including key performance indicators.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in medical billing.
  • Previous experience with Smart Care (preferred).
  • Knowledge of coding systems.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and billing software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Ability to work in an office setting, using a computer and phone for extended periods.
  • Be seated for long periods of time (up to 8 hours/day).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective stress management and adaptability.
  • Ability to focus and concentrate in a fast-paced environment.
