This position offers remote working capabilities, with the expectation of local and regional travel to client offices and project sites. This flexibility allows us to effectively serve our utility clients. Candidates should ideally be based in or near the greater Sacramento, CA area to be eligible for this position, as monetary relocation assistance is not provided.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong project management background with a proven track record of successfully overseeing projects. You will manage a variety of project types, including fixed fee, T&M, and EPC contracts, focusing on Power Utility work in overhead, underground, or urban redevelopment environments. Responsibilities will include managing project and program performance related to engineering deliverables such as risk, schedule, and quality. You will ensure the seamless execution of contracted engineering by overseeing performance, financial metrics, planning, schedule management, quality assurance, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction. Coordination with third-party companies and subcontractors may also be part of your role. Typical tasks involve both internal and external reporting of financials, project progress, and change management, in addition to tracking critical performance indicators for project success.


Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting project teams in engineering design for electric infrastructure projects (public-owned and investor-owned utilities).
  • Managing overall project performance in terms of scope, schedule, budget, and reporting.
  • Developing and implementing recovery plans to adhere to approved budgets and timelines.
  • Ensuring complete contract compliance and meeting client requirements.
  • Driving deliverables through effective coordination with Engineering Leads, Managers, and cross-functional teams.
  • Maintaining and documenting adherence to quality control processes.
  • Acting as the primary liaison with clients and internal management to address issues, track progress, and report on cost, schedule, and risk across programs.
  • Communicating clearly with clients, subcontractors, functional leaders, and support staff.
  • Contributing to bid preparation, cost estimation, and RFP responses.
  • Managing monthly invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable within specified deadlines.
  • Collaborating with teams to identify and pursue business development opportunities.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or related field, along with 3+ years of relevant project management experience.
  • Proficiency in project management software (Workfront, MS Project, P6, or similar).
  • Strong MS Office skills, particularly advanced proficiency in Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience managing project financials, scopes, and schedules.
  • Ability to effectively organize, direct, and track technical efforts across multiple tasks.
  • Solid understanding of project financial planning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities successfully.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP certification (preferred or willingness to obtain within the first year).
  • Experience with different contract types (Fixed Price, Time & Materials).
  • Direct experience in the utility industry, exposure to projects for significant U.S. electric utilities.
  • Proven success in collaborative, team-oriented consulting environments.
