Job Title: Product Development Scientist - Baking

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Full-time on-site role for an experienced Baking and Pastry Product Developer to drive our product innovation and development efforts in the baking aisle (think frosting, baking mixes, cookie dough, and more!). The role will require new product development, improving existing product formulations, conducting ingredient research, testing recipes, ensuring product quality, and leading the Baking R&D team. This role reports to the Head of R&D and requires a dynamic individual who can design and execute product development innovation, renovation, cost optimization and quality initiatives efficiently, rapidly prototype and deliver sales samples as needed, as well as ensure compliance with food safety regulations through effective supply chain partnership and packaging design reviews.
Qualifications:
5-10 years Experience in product development and recipe formulation for a CPG brand
Strong background in food science and ingredient functionality
Proficiency in sensory evaluation and quality control
Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to lead and work collaboratively within a team
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, or a related field
Proficiency in Google Workspace and Dropbox
Experience in the baking industry
Working Conditions:
Hybrid work model available, with a preference for candidates located in or within driving distance of Emeryville, CA.
This role requires the ability to lift 25 LBS, taste a broad range of foods, and stand for extended periods in a test kitchen
