Summary: We are Friedman's. We deliver the Human Side of Home Improvement. We are looking for a Maintenance Technician who understands the human side of business to join our dynamic maintenance team. We are looking for a people person who enjoys finding the root cause of issues and solving problems, working on a variety of equipment and structures. This people person interacts with a variety of Team Members, working in different retail store, distribution center and headquarters locations. With training and coaching, this position has growth potential to move into a leadership role within the Maintenance team.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment
  • Clean, repair and maintain physical structure of locations
  • Perform Lockout, Tagout procedures and equipment safeguards
  • Service and maintain Company vehicles within specified time parameters. Perform repairs internally and/or coordinates repairs with outside vendors
  • Maintain and dispose of defective and damaged products that become hazardous materials, including used batteries, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, paint, thinners, lacquers, pesticides, and related materials
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as grinder, drill, and panel saw, table saw, and produce materials list, layout, and fabricate various projects out of wood, steel, and other materials using shop equipment
  • Understand basic AC/electrical operation and safety procedures. Perform basic A/C electrical repairs, including repairing light cords, changing ballasts, changing outlets
  • Complete Maintenance Work Order Requests, with follow up and close within system in a timely manner

Maintenance Technician II
  • Maintain, service and repair power industrial tools and equipment
  • Visually inspect, maintain, service and repair buildings and equipment including, but not limited to, roll-up doors, entrance doors, fans, heaters, and vacuums, utilizing outside vendors when necessary
  • Install, diagnose, and repair D/C or A/C electrical, such as conduits, wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment
  • Lay-out, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as grinder, drill, and panel saw, table saw, to repair or fabricate machine parts, jig, fixtures, and tools
  • Administer Forklift Training regarding Manitou/Donkey forklifts to Team Members.
  • Maintain Service and BIT Records and Truck Service Calendar
  • Diagnose and repair electric motors, gas garden equipment, and small engines

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver's license and a driving record that is acceptable to the Company and our insurance carrier is a requirement
  • Ability to maintain and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing equipment and perform carpentry, repair work, construction, and renovation work
  • Ability to maintain electronic logs and records
  • Basic computer skills. Understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and OneNote
  • Requires a professional presentation and an ability to work in a team atmosphere and to make independent decisions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Use of basic construction materials and light construction equipment, machines, and power tools
  • Preventive maintenance and safe operations of vehicles (including but not limited to forklifts, cars, trucks)
  • Knowledge of hazards associated with the work and proper safety precautions
  • Ability to learn equipment and fleet with visual and/or hands on training
  • Ability to multitask and transition seamlessly from one project to another, following up as needed

Work Environment:
  • Work environment will be stationed at the Santa Rosa Retail store location. This is a full-time position, which typically has 5-day 40 hour a week schedule.
  • This position requires frequent travel to Friedman's retail store locations, Distribution Center, and Headquarters offices within the Northern California region.
