Job Description And Duties

Under the supervision of a Staff Service Manager I, Region Maintenance Manager I and II, the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) provides clerical, administrative and analytical support for the Northbay Region. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing payroll and timekeeping data, pulling payroll reports, resolving discrepancies, recommending corrections, and addressing employee issues with HQ Human Resources. The SSA also responds to inquiries from staff regarding time discrepancies and participates in a cohesive team-focused environment. This position is represented under collective bargaining and does not telework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical, administrative and analytical support for the Northbay Region.
  • Conduct research and analysis of payroll and timekeeping data.
  • Pull payroll reports and analyze daily time entries.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and recommend corrections.
  • Resolve employee issues with HQ Human Resources.
  • Respond to telephone and counter inquiries regarding time discrepancies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and cooperate with staff and public.

Eligibility & Examination

Eligibility may be determined by your score on the Staff Services Analyst exam. Applicants lacking current eligibility must be on the state examination list. Working Conditions

Requires long periods of sitting using a keyboard and video terminal. Physical activities include standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting. Must analyze and prioritize work situations and manage changing priorities. Requires confidentiality and interaction with staff at all levels. Occasional travel for training and to District Office and Maintenance Stations.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge of modern office methods, public and business administration, personnel and management analysis, analytic techniques, decision‐making support, data analysis, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project).
