Supervisor Deputy Public Administrator/Guardian/Conservator

Human Services Department, County of Sonoma.

Salary up to $58.43/hr ($121,950/yr) plus competitive total compensation package.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising staff investigations, setting deadlines, and answering questions.
  • Assisting Deputy PA/PG/PC staff in all aspects of their caseload, including developing case management plans, and providing daily feedback, support, and direction.
  • Scheduling, planning, and leading various team meetings.
  • Conducting one-on-one staff meetings, documenting performance, coaching team members, and providing achievable goals.
  • Reviewing the work of Deputy PA/PG/PCs for accuracy and conformance to program policies.
  • Investigating, coordinating, and managing services in difficult or complex cases.
  • Assisting with property searches, which requires the use of specialized safety equipment such as Tyvek suits and hood respirators.
  • Completing field work, attending court hearings, and searching for properties to safeguard assets.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience dealing with decedent estates, probate guardianships, and/or LPS conservatorships.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to oversee a large caseload.
  • Experience supervising and leading team members and providing critical feedback.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
  • An aptitude for organizing and triaging under strict deadlines.
  • The ability to train and evaluate staff and respond to their needs in real time.
  • An understanding of the public assistance programs available to clients.
  • The ability to respond to and communicate with a diverse population of clients, family members, and callers under severe stress and/or in difficult situations.
  • The ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain client confidentiality.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Panoramic Database Software, and other case management tracking tools.

Selection Process

The selection procedure will consist of the following examination:

  • An Application and Supplemental Questionnaire Appraisal Examination (weight 100%) will be conducted to evaluate each applicant's application and supplemental questionnaire for satisfaction of minimum qualifications (pass/not pass); and for educational coursework, training, experience, knowledge, and abilities which relate to this position.

Each applicant will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance of work history, related experience, and achieved level of education and/or training as described in the application and responses to the supplemental questions.

Background Check

A background investigation is required prior to employment. Candidates referred to departments for a selection interview are typically required to sign authorization and release forms enabling such an investigation. Failure to sign prescribed forms will result in the candidate not being considered further for that vacancy. Reference information will not be made available to applicants.

Additional Requirements

  • Certification by the California State Association of Public Administrators, Public Guardians, and Public Conservators; or within two years of employment, employees in this classification shall obtain required certification.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level including special endorsements, as required by the State of California, may be required depending upon assignment to perform the essential job functions of the position. The position advertised on this announcement does not require possession of a valid California Driver's License.
