Description:

The Sonoma County District Attorney's Office is recruiting dedicated attorneys to fill two Deputy District Attorney positions at Deputy District Attorney I level. One position is an ongoing position and the other is a time-limited position funded through June 30, 2029.

Starting salary up to $79.18 hourly ($165,258 annually) and a competitive total compensation package.

Responsibilities

  • Prosecute all phases of criminal cases from initial arraignment through completion, including jury trials.
  • Review police reports to determine whether the Office should file criminal charges.
  • Handle a high volume of cases and collaborate with other attorneys and office staff.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate degree and admission to the California Bar.
  • Current active membership in the State Bar of California.
  • Experience in criminal prosecution, court appearances, legal research, writing, and daily court calendars.
  • Training in trial advocacy or other aspects of California criminal law.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation skills, electronic case management, and empathy for victims and the public.
  • Team player mindset and ability to thrive in a high-demand, difficult decision-making environment.
