The successful candidate will possess a solid background in project management with a proven track record of competent project leadership. Projects will span fixed fee, time and materials, and EPC contracts in the vibrant field of Power Utility engineering, including overhead, underground, or underground residential distribution environments. As Project Director, you will manage project and program performance related to engineering deliverables, oversight of risk, schedule, and quality assurance. You will ensure the successful day-to-day execution of contracted engineering services focused on performance metrics, financial oversight, scheduling, quality assurance, contractual compliance, safety, and client satisfaction. This role also involves coordinating with third-party companies and subcontractors when required. Typical responsibilities encompass internal and external reporting on financials, project progress, and change management. You will support internal execution teams by tracking and analyzing key performance indicators crucial for project success.

Your contributions will include:

  • Assisting project teams in executing engineering designs for electric infrastructure projects (public-owned and investor-owned utilities).
  • Overseeing overall project performance, including scope, schedule, budget, and reporting.
  • Developing recovery plans to maintain compliance with approved budgets and timelines.
  • Ensuring full contract compliance and adherence to client specifications.
  • Driving deliverables through coordination with Engineering Leads, Managers, and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Documenting compliance with established quality control processes.
  • Serving as the primary interface with clients and internal management to resolve issues and report on costs, schedule adherence, and project risks.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, subcontractors, functional leaders, and support teams.
  • Contributing to bid preparation, cost estimates, and responses to RFPs.
  • Managing monthly invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable within specified deadlines.
  • Collaborating with teams to identify and pursue business development opportunities.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance, or a related field with 3+ years of relevant project management experience.
  • Proficient in project management software (Workfront, MS Project, P6, or similar).
  • Strong MS Office skills; advanced proficiency in Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, etc.) is preferred.
  • Proven experience managing project financials, scopes, and schedules.
  • Able to plan, organize, direct, and monitor technical efforts across multiple tasks.
  • Solid understanding of project financial planning, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills capable of managing multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP certification is preferred; candidates should be willing to obtain it within the first year.
  • Experience with various contract types (Fixed Price, Time & Materials).
  • Experience directly within the utility industry, especially with major U.S. electric utilities.
  • Demonstrated success in a collaborative, team-based consulting setting.

Pay Range: Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
