Job Description

JOB TITLE: Security Shift Supervisor / EMT

STATUS: Full-time, Permanent

FLSA: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Manager of Security

SUPERVISES: Security Officers, Security Officers/EMT

Working Hours: This is an hourly position. The incumbent is expected to work the necessary hours to meet the needs of a 24-hour establishment.

Summary: Directs all Customer Safety activities on assigned shift. Responsible for the supervision, direction and guidance of all Security Officers on assigned shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the training and coordination of officers/EMTs to ensure compliance with all related policies to provide a safe environment for patrons and employees.
  • Performs a variety of emergency rescue activities at an accident, or other emergency scenes.
  • Prepares for any and all types of emergencies; administers first aid and CPR as needed.
  • Performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and minor repair tasks necessary to keep all equipment clean, stored properly, and fully functional.
  • Abides by and ensures all subordinate personnel are in compliance with the State Gaming Compact, Tribal Gaming Ordinance, departmental policies, casino policies, human resources policies and procedures and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Prepares work schedules, provides daily briefings, assigns breaks, monitors reports, initiates the investigative process and reviews paperwork, conducts performance evaluations, monitors individual and team performance and coaches and documents.
  • Assists in the handling of adverse situations and oversees the poker and slot drop process.
  • Knows locations of all alarms, fire extinguishers, fire exits, fire suppression system, pull station, and building layout in preparation for emergency evacuation.
  • Ensures that posts in their zones are properly manned and that relieves are provided.
  • Reports all violations of the State Gaming Compact, Tribal Gaming Ordinance, and casino and departmental policies to the appropriate authorities.
  • Follows the chain of command on all matters.
  • As needed or when requested, writes incident reports and ensures reports written by subordinates are completed in a timely manner and are correct.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of training activities to maintain and improve the level of emergency medical skills and general physical conditioning.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, termination, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, reward and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Minimum 1-year previous supervisory experience
  • Previous law enforcement and/or casino security experience required
  • Must have knowledge of first aid, CPR, and other basic medical assistance techniques.
  • Must possess strong leadership, supervisory and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to get along with co-workers and work as a team.
  • Must present a professional appearance at all times.
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with respect to all matters pertaining to the gaming enterprise business.

Education: Minimum High school diploma or GED

Language Skills: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Excellent oral and written communication skills are important to the successful conduct of this position. Ability to write accurate, grammatically correct, polished reports and business correspondence. Must be able to speak with the public in a professional manner.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to proactively streamline processes for company's return on investment. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to process detailed work and requests for information or assistance in a timely manner. Ability to apply regulatory and procedure doctrine, concepts, and policy to practical situations.

Licenses, Certificates, Registrations: Must possess a valid State of California EMT certificate. Must possess a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record. Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Dry Creek Gaming Commission.

Physical Demands: Must be able to maneuver around all areas of the casino. Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift up to weight needed to perform the duties of the job. Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment. Must be able to carry heavy loads and run on level surfaces, as well as, up and down stairs. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, twist and grip items. Must be able to respond to visual and audio cues.

This is a fast paced, highly diverse work environment, and the position requires the ability to remain flexible and get along with all personality types. Must be able to manage a number of priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines. Must be able to respond calmly to customer concerns and questions. Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke.
