Position Overview

The Hazardous Materials Abatement Division Manager plays a crucial role in shaping and executing our business development strategy. This pivotal position involves estimating, supervising, and managing all field crews responsible for the safe abatement of hazardous materials like asbestos, lead, mold, and more. Your leadership will ensure that all work complies with federal, state, and local environmental regulations as well as our company's safety standards. You will have the opportunity to build and lead crews, coordinate with clients and subcontractors, and ensure projects are completed on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement innovative business development plans and strategies.
  • Estimate and manage varied abatement projects efficiently.
  • Recruit, build, and cultivate field crews for ongoing and future projects.
  • Oversee daily operations for hazardous material abatement projects, ensuring effectiveness and safety.
  • Facilitate compliance with all safety procedures, regulations, and job-specific plans.
  • Conduct thorough pre-job planning and hold daily briefings with crew members.
  • Inspect work areas to confirm compliance with containment, decontamination, and waste management protocols.
  • Maintain meticulous project documentation, including logs, permits, and incident reports.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and inspectors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor field crew performance, providing guidance, mentoring, and training as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics involving equipment, materials, and hazardous waste transport.
  • Ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and carry out job site safety audits.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies, incidents, and inspections when necessary.
  • Ensure decontamination and waste disposal procedures meet EPA, OSHA, and Cal/OSHA regulations.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Over 10 years of supervisory experience in hazardous materials abatement.
  • Active certifications (or expired no more than one year): OSHA 30, HAZWOPER (40-hr), Confined Space Entry Training, NFPA Electrical Safety Training, First Aid/CPR, Asbestos Supervisor Certification, Lead Supervisor Certification.
  • Residency or willingness to commute within 25 miles of the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Strong familiarity with federal, state, and local abatement regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a proven ability to train and direct field teams.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs and wear full PPE, including respirator equipment.
  • Capable of working on-site in physically demanding conditions.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Exposure to hazardous materials, extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and construction sites.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and use of protective gear are required.
  • Ability to respond quickly to on-site issues and emergencies is necessary.
  • Travel to job sites within the Bay Area is required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $90,000 - $125,000 annually.
