Under general supervision, the Account Clerk III performs a variety of general and/or specialized accounting activities related to the maintenance, review and processing of financial transactions and accounts, statistical data and records, and performs related duties as required.
* Processes Accounts Payable.
* Balances and processes deposits daily for all revenue sources through the County's Auditor-Controller's Office and the Court's Accounting system.
* Maintains, verifies and reconciles revenue posted into the Court's case management system on a daily and monthly basis.
* Maintains, verifies and reconciles trust accounts, including processing trust deposits and trust disbursements in the Court's case management system and accounting system.
* Obtains information from the public including vendors and other departments as well as provides information concerning accounts payable and accounts receivables.
* Researches accounts for proper payments and charges, makes adjustments to accounts and balances, resolves and/or reconciles discrepancies.
* May be assigned responsibility for establishing new or modifying existing accounting procedures.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Any combination of education and training which would provide the opportunity to acquire the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
High school diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years of progressive responsibility in financial record-keeping maintenance and review of financial and/or statistical records.
OR
Associates' degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, Business or other related field and two (2) years of progressive responsibility in maintenance and review of financial and/or statistical records.
Ability To:
* Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse groups of people at various levels.
* Work independently, multitask and prioritize assignments.
* To work in a fast paced environment.
* Prepare and maintain accurate, complete specialized records and files.
* Operate a computer using business software and other standard office equipment.
* Maintain confidentiality of Court records and documents.
* Be detailed oriented.
Knowledge Of:
* Purposes, methods, practices and terminology used in maintenance and review of accounting records and processes.
* Basic principles and terminology of accounting.
* English usage, including grammar, spelling, vocabulary and punctuation.
* Business software applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Standard office procedures and equipment, including 10-key by touch.
