Job Overview & Responsibilities

This individual will have responsibilities in both Quality Engineering and Systems Safety Engineering, supporting Launch operations at both Cape and Vandenberg.

Key Responsibilities:

• Position will require occasional extended temporary duty travels (TDY's).
• Reviews product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and establishes safety requirements for assigned systems.
• Independently analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
• Prepares safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational range requirements.
• Performs development, modification, application and maintenance of quality standards and protocol for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
• Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
• Adheres to implementation methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
• Performs the design or specification of inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
• Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
• May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.

Required Education

Bachelor of Engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience.

Basic Qualifications

• Ability to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance; US citizenship is required.
• Analytical ability to evaluate, interpret, and assimilate data into usable information and provide recommendations based upon results.
• Ability to apply CA tools to identify root cause and corrective actions for anomaly conditions.
• Must be able to work around hazardous systems at the launch sites, climb stairs, and access elevated work platforms.
• Lead multi-discipline continuous improvement teams to improve methods and procedures.
• Highly flexible in work schedule (i.e. off-shift, weekends, travel 25%).
• Willing to accommodate occasional TDY's at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Preferred Qualifications

• Green Belt / Black Belt certification.
• Lean and Six Sigma certification.

Salary Range (ULA – Vandenberg AFB only)

$97,547.00 – $162,578.00 (base salary). Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
