Post Masters Mental Health Fellowship for Associate Therapists

Description:

This is an excellent opportunity for Associate Marriage & Family Therapists, Associate Clinical Social Workers, and Associate Professional Clinical Counselors seeking advanced training and clinical supervision in mental health settings. This fellowship is part of a comprehensive training program designed to assist candidates in meeting the licensing requirements as set by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

The fellowship offers hands-on experience in outpatient Child and Family or Adult Psychiatry, Chemical Dependency, and more, under the supervision of Licensed Mental Health Professionals. The position is temporary for one year and includes valuable benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychotherapy and facilitate family or group therapy sessions while engaging in clinical supervision.
  • Participate in a minimum of two hours of individual supervision, two hours of didactic training, and two hours of case conference/group supervision weekly.
  • Engage in at least 32 hours annually of outside community partnership projects to gain real-world experience.
  • Attend regional seminars and workshops regularly, actively participating in staff meetings and case conferences.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient files and maintain accurate records.
  • Adhere to local, regional, and state policies, regulations, and ethical guidelines in delivery of mental health services.
  • Perform team-specific duties under direct supervision, which may include assessment and therapy tailored to Adult or Child/Family teams, Intensive Outpatient Programs, Bilingual Spanish Therapy, Behavioral Medicine, and more.
  • Assist in case management for patients with severe and persistent mental illness, coordinating treatment with various health care facilities.
  • Contribute to chronic pain management strategies and provide therapeutic support for patients with eating disorders.
  • Undertake other assigned duties as needed.

  • Position starts January 2026.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Successful completion of pre-master internships in mental health settings.
  • Applicants with more than 2000 hours of supervision towards licensure are not eligible for this training in their first year.

Education:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution by the start date.

Licensure:

  • Must possess Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Associate Clinical Social Worker, or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor registration in California at the time of hire.

Skills:

  • Competence in mental health assessment, mandated reporting, and ethical standards.
  • Proven experience in various therapeutic modalities.
  • Strong professional integrity and maturity.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality service and collaboration in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with diverse populations, including adults, children, and those in chemical dependency or intensive outpatient programs.
  • Experience in establishing psychosocial diagnoses and clinical case management.
  • Background in providing group therapy and understanding major psychotherapy theories and practices.
