Perform all routine and specialized histological procedures including grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation for diagnostic purposes.
Handle and process various tissue specimens following established laboratory protocols.
Prepare frozen sections, automated and manual IHC, and special stains.
Ensure tissue preservation and accurate labeling throughout processing stages.
Maintain laboratory instruments, troubleshoot equipment issues, and perform routine quality control checks.
Collaborate with pathology staff and maintain compliance with safety and infection control standards.
Expected to float between similar units or affiliated hospital sites as needed.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent hospital-based histology experience (hospital experience is a hard requirement).
Must possess a valid California license prior to start (pending license not accepted).
ASCP-HT certification and Associate's Degree in Science required.
Must have proven experience in grossing.
Fully able to perform routine hospital anatomical pathology specimen processing.
Must provide 2 recent supervisory references within the last 3 years.
Experience with Epic charting system preferred.
Knowledge of cytology preparation techniques including Thin Prep, cell block, cytospin and GYN specimens preferred.
Experience working in a teaching hospital environment preferred.
Over 10 years of histology experience highly desired.
