Job Title: CNC Machinist

Reports to: Manufacturing Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary

This position will be responsible for the Machine Shop & Automation area including all material, machinery, and personnel inside the shop. The CNC Machinist will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and training on any automated equipment & machine tools. This position works closely with Engineering & Production to produce tooling, prototype components, and various Stäubli ECS products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up and program CNC mill, lathe, and screw machine for prototypes, fixtures, or production.

• Work with quoting to estimate labor & material costs for new machining jobs.

• Use SAP ERP to maintain inventory of all material used in the shop.

• Supervise all personnel working within the machine shop.

• Maintain all shop equipment & coordinate 3rd party maintenance schedules.

• Assist Manufacturing Engineer with design & building of fixtures or equipment for production.

• Perform finished good inspections as required.

• Perform maintenance and repairs on all machinery within the automation area.

• Train operators & other personnel on equipment or machinery in the machine shop/ automation area.

• Troubleshoot the cause of manufacturing defects & resolve issues.

• Monitor production of automated equipment, working with vendors to solve issues or make improvements.

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. regularly & stand for extended periods of time.
  • Maintain an organized & safe work environment including proper waste disposal.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

• Proficiently setup and program CNC mills, lathes, and screw machines.

• Read and understand engineering drawings.

• Understand GD&T on machined component prints.

• Be familiar with advanced manufacturing methods & techniques.

Education and/or Experience

• 2+ years of experience working in a machine shop

• 2+ years CNC equipment experience.

• 2+ years CAM/CAD experience; Inventor a plus

• Experience with inspection tools including calipers, bore gage, micrometer, gage pins.

• Basic mechanical/electrical experience.

• Experience with hazardous material a plus.

$33-$40/hour
