Description:
The Kitchen Lead/ Shift Supervisor at Russian River Brewing Company is primarily scheduled for evening shifts unless covering for the Kitchen Manager or Chef. While the Kitchen Supervisor will actively participate in food preparation and prep work alongside the rest of the team, their responsibilities extend beyond those of a cook. The Kitchen Supervisor plays a key leadership role by overseeing kitchen operations during their shift, including working the food stations, supervising staff, managing shift transitions, scheduling breaks, and ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures. They may also assist with inventory and place orders when necessary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Spends approximately 85% of time prepping and preparing food orders
Ensures recipes are followed and portion control is adhered to
Coordinates and guides kitchen staff; escalates situations to Kitchen Manager, FOH Supervisor, GM or HR as appropriate
Ensures all side work is done before staff leave their shift
Manages shift changes and monitors kitchen staff breaks
Acts as back-up for ordering when Kitchen Manager is unavailable
Leads the kitchen shift meeting
All other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong knife skills and foundational culinary techniques
Proper food handling, personal hygiene, and kitchen safety protocols
Kitchen prep needs, including accurate assessment of inventory and station readiness
All kitchen stations and their role in smooth service execution
Maintain a high level of attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Common computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
Good judgment and the ability to make timely, well-informed decisions
Understand and follow oral and written instructions
Handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
Organize, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
REQUIREMENTS
Two plus years experience in high volume kitchen
Prior supervisory experience highly desired
High school diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
Serve Safe or California Food Handlers Certification (or the ability to get one)
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace
Bilingual skills a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
In the dynamic and demanding environment of a restaurant, both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) supervisors encounter specific physical demands and working conditions, including:
Stand and walk for long periods of time
Use fingers and hands to handle objects; talk and hear; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, twist and crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift, carry, and/or move up to 60 pounds and manipulate and/or move up to 155 pounds.
Use of arms above or below the shoulder is required.
