CNO Financial Group's IT Team is hiring a Sr. IT Engineer, Network to deliver high-quality technical solutions and documentation within a managed services IT model. This role will help facilitate and participate in the optimized delivery of proposed solutions in conjunction with our third-party partner in a timely, cost-effective, and integrated manner. This role will also collaborate with architecture staff on enhancements and technical direction as well as providing tier 3 support.

As a Sr. IT Engineer, Network, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical expertise in projects

  • Engaging with vendor-managed run support teams and CNO architects to ensure performance, security, and availability for all CNO Networks solutions

  • Working closely with operational IT teams to collaborate on product and solution life cycle management ensuring system capacity, integrity, availability, and supportability.

  • Collaborating with technology architects on proposed improvements and new technologies; analyzing provided architecture designs and implementing solutions

  • Creating and maintaining detailed network diagrams, configuration standards, and operational runbooks to support knowledge transfer and compliance audits.

  • Reviewing and regularly auditing firewall rules, VPNs, and segmentation policies; collaborating with cybersecurity teams to ensure the network aligns with industry best practices and meets all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.

  • Serving as a Tier 3 escalation point for critical network incidents.

  • Performing in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis across multi-vendor environments (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, F5) to restore service and prevent recurrence.

  • Monitoring network utilization and latency across wired and wireless segments; using tools like SolarWinds to proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.

The Sr. IT Engineer, Network position is well-suited for you if you:

  • Are proficient in configuring and troubleshooting complex network infrastructures, including Layer 2/3 switching, dynamic routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), firewall policies, and load balancing with F5

  • Have extensive experience with core data center infrastructure across multi-site environments, with a focus on high availability, disaster recovery, and redundancy.

  • Have a strong understanding of network security principles, including segmentation, VPNs, and secure DNS practices

  • Can clearly document network designs, changes, and procedures and can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Have experience with enterprise wireless solutions, emphasizing secure access and policy enforcement through Network Access Control (NAC) best practices

  • Possess strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on system performance, reliability, and root cause analysis.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience supporting server and directory technologies

  • Ability to work within Central or Eastern time zone business hours

  • Ability to work after hours/weekend times as projects or support require

What will set you apart:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • The ability to present ideas, goals, problems, outcomes and processes to be understood by a diverse audience.

  • Prior experience with Cisco ACI

  • Prior experience with Aruba enterprise wireless networks and ClearPass

  • Prior experience configuring and managing Palo Alto firewalls, including security policies, threat prevention, and integration with enterprise network infrastructure.
