Key Responsibilities:

• Project Management & Design Oversight
• Lead the preparation of Requests for Qualifications (RFQs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for design consultants engaged in ferry structure projects.
• Ensure RFQ/RFP documents meet clarity, technical completeness, and compliance with standards.
• Oversee consultant selection, contract negotiation, and performance monitoring.
• Construction Phase Management
• Act as Resident Engineer for capital projects, providing construction oversight, contractor coordination, quality control, and progress documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, review contractor submissions, issue field directives, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Seismic Retrofit Support
• Participate in seismic safety initiatives by reviewing shop drawings, work plans, submittals, and technical documentation related to structural retrofits.
• Environmental & Permitting Coordination
• Manage environmental documentation, permits, and coordination required for ferry terminal rehabilitation projects.
• Interface with regulatory agencies to secure necessary environmental clearances and development permits.
• Apply deep knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, particularly related to marine and ferry infrastructure.
• Produce high-quality plans, specifications, and estimates for complex infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of applicable codes, regulations, and permitting processes.

Required Experience:

• A minimum of five (5) years in engineering design, specifications, estimating, and inspection for construction projects.
• Proven expertise in procuring and managing consultants.
• Public-sector project execution experience is preferred, but private-sector professionals with relevant infrastructure experience are encouraged to apply.
• California Professional Engineer (P.E.) License for at least 5 years is mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master's degree is a plus.
• Experience in transportation or marine infrastructure projects, particularly ferry terminals or coastal facilities is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with project management software and documentation systems is essential.
• Possess strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical teams, public agencies, and community stakeholders.
