A nationally recognized builder is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support field operations on major infrastructure and civil construction projects in the Bay Area. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, has strong field coordination skills, and is looking to grow with an industry leader.


About the Role

As an Assistant Superintendent, you'll coordinate field operations for designated scopes of work—both subcontracted and self-performed. You'll ensure that all construction activities align with the project's sequence, schedule, and safety/quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate field installation of work per contract documents and schedule
  • Understand milestone deadlines and ensure sequencing aligns to meet them
  • Maintain a clear understanding of scope, schedule durations, and equipment capabilities
  • Track and prepare for material/equipment deliveries impacting your scope
  • Monitor field workforce to ensure cost-effective performance; track costs against budget
  • Enforce safety programs and conduct scheduled/unscheduled safety inspections
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Identify and help recruit top-tier talent to the team
  • Proactively identify ways to exceed project and stakeholder expectations


Qualifications

Required:

  • 3–6+ years of field experience on large-scale construction projects
  • Heavy civil experience required; concrete and self-perform experience preferred
  • Proven ability to manage field crews, subcontractors, and jobsite logistics
  • Working knowledge of scheduling, equipment utilization, and manpower planning
  • Familiarity with OSHA and jobsite safety compliance
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team coordination skills


Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
  • Experience using tools like Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, FieldWire, or P6


Types of Projects

This role supports large-scale civil and infrastructure projects such as:

  • Airports, bridges, and transit systems (light/heavy rail)
  • Water/wastewater facilities and treatment plants
  • Roadway, electrical, and utility infrastructure (substations, T&D)


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $78,000 – $175,000 (DOE)
