Job Overview:
The Withdrawal Management Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is an integral part of the interdisciplinary team who prioritizes client safety. The LVN will provide detox-focused services related to the safe and appropriate administration of medical treatment (including medications) as prescribed by the physician. They are responsible to provide safe, effective, and efficient implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.

The LVN works with the larger nursing and medical team on-site in the provision of MAT therapies. Monitors patient medication use, vital, and other physical signs and symptoms to support the client through the withdrawal phase of treatment. Liaises with on-call provider, nurse manager, nurse director, and/or medical director as necessary. Triages and provides complex care coordination for all clients.

The Withdrawal Management LVN will:

  • Monitor and support patients through the withdrawal process using established protocols and clinical judgment.
  • Administer medications and monitor for side effects or changes in condition.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and clinical staff to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care.
  • Conduct regular patient assessments including vital signs, withdrawal scales (e.g., CIWA, COWS), and documentation of observations.
  • Respond promptly to medical and behavioral health emergencies and initiate appropriate actions.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records in electronic systems.
  • Participate in shift reports and care planning discussions.
  • Communicate with on-call providers and clinical leadership as needed for patient care decisions.
  • Support and educate patients in medication-assisted treatment (MAT) protocols.
  • Adhere to all clinical, safety, and confidentiality guidelines, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Foster a supportive, respectful environment for clients of all backgrounds and life experiences.
Qualifications:
  • Current LVN licensure in the State of California with a degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to medication assisted detox protocols.
  • CPR Certified.
  • One year of experience in a substance abuse treatment setting (preferred).

Physical Requirements:
  • Stand, walk, and move quickly throughout the facility.
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for nursing tasks.
  • Visual acuity for patient observation and medical records.
  • Tolerance for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous chemicals.
