Position Information
UC Riverside is recruiting for an Assistant Director of Human Resources. The Assistant Director of Human Resources for Facilities Services reports to the Director of HR & HR Business Partner and serves as the lead HR professional supporting Facilities Services. This position is part of the Administrative Services and Strategic Executive Team (ASSET) which supports several organizations on campus in finance, human resources and business operations. ASSET is part of the Planning, Budget & Administration (PB&A) organizational unit. PB&A is one of the campus's largest and most complex units, with 3 Organizational accountability structures, 18 Divisions, supporting 51 departments. As part of ASSET, the Assistant Director serves in a consultative role, supporting the human resources needs of Facilities Services. Facilities Services (FS) consists of approximately 250 employees and includes thee following operational units: Maintenance Services, Central Plant, Environmental & Resource Services, Energy & Engineering, Client Support Services, and FS Administration. The Assistant Director of HR (AD of HR) is responsible for the coordination and delivery of a variety of human resources duties in support of organizational management. The AD of HR advises and provides consultation to management on workforce planning, compensation and classification, job descriptions, recruitment, personnel policies and procedures, employee and labor relations, and other areas of human resources. Serves as the point of contact for a diverse workforce, including union represented staff; responds to inquiries, questions, requests, and concerns, delegating work as appropriate. Gathers and analyzes human resources data for Facilities Services and organizational management. Represents FS as an HR professional on campus-wide workgroups and committees, ensuring departmental human resources needs are appropriately represented and addressed. The position oversees an HR & Leaves Coordinator, who is primarily responsible for management the leave of absence program, as well as recruitment activities in FS; as well as, an HR Assistant who provides daily administrative and operational HR support for employees and management of FS. As part of the ASSET PB&A HR Team, this position is characterized by a high degree of collaboration and coordination in the delivery of HR services to support Facilities Services. The full salary range for the Assistant Director of HR is $90,400 to $169,000, annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $125,000 per year. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

- Has working knowledge of the university's HR information systems.
- Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in order to present complex information.
- Skills and experience in mediation, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
- Knowledge of University of California policies and procedures relative to human resources.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, labor and employee relations.
- Working knowledge of management within higher education.
