CalPERS Financial Reporting and Accounting Services Division is seeking an Accounting Administrator I, Specialist to act as a lead in our Recon Unit. The Accounting Administrator I is responsible for reconciling the more complex transactions for the Public Employees' Retirement Fund, administrative personnel services accounts, operating expenses, revolving fund, and equipment between CalPERS PeopleSoft Financial System (PS) modules and the State Controller's Office (SCO) records on a monthly basis. Prepares and posts journal entries to record the monthly accounting activity and any adjustments and/or corrections to general ledger accounts in PS. Provides assistance to program Divisions in identifying and adjusting reconciling items between the SCO and the department's appropriation records. Prepares and processes the monthly Plan of Financial Adjustments transfers and SCO transaction letters. Reviews Recon Unit reconciliations, SCO Transaction Letters, STO Remittance Advices and approve them timely. Reviews re-occurring reconciling items for control deficiencies and make recommendations to management to mitigate risks. The incumbent must have extensive experience and possess an in-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices and provide technical expertise in pension fund and administrative accounting.
