Title: Cost Estimator

Location: Bay Area, CA

Duration: 12 months contract to start.

Pay Range: $70 - $80/hr

Expected work schedule: 5x10's

Target start date / availability: ASAP interview and start

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Develop and review detailed cost estimates for new projects, ensuring alignment and consistency in cost metrics.
  • Analyze estimated versus actual costs and assist in project close-out, collecting key project metrics.
  • Conduct job walks as necessary to support the development of accurate estimates.
  • Thoroughly understand the project scope of work and identify any inadequacies in the scope, communicating findings back to the project team.
  • Provide expert estimating consultancy to projects and guide contractors in delivering high-quality estimating outputs.
  • Perform cost risk assessments of project estimates utilizing standard industry estimating tools.
  • Conduct external estimate assurance reviews for project teams, clearly indicating gaps between scope, execution plans, and scheduling parameters.
  • Assist project teams in resolving estimating-related issues concerning cost, schedule, and project changes.
  • Enhance historical cost databases by aiding in the implementation, collection, storage, and dissemination of project metrics.
  • Collaborate with the site construction team during all phases of engineering projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in the refinery or petrochemical sectors.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings/documents related to refinery operations.
  • Familiarity with various estimating tools and methodologies utilized in the industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Capability to work independently and effectively manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to engage clearly with internal and external clients.
