Description
The Human Resources Coordinator works closely with the VP-Human Resources Manager on the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department. The Human Resources Coordinator maintains confidentiality and promotes positive employee morale. Demonstrates flexible, efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload to ensure work is completed by deadlines. Performs project work as assigned by the VP-Human Resources Manager, SVP-Human Resources, or Executive Officer.
Ensures compliance within all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists with all internal and external HR related matters
- Manage employee database and preparing reports
- Assists with recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers including writing and placing advertisements, working with recruiting firms (when approved and appropriate) and screening and interviewing candidates, reference and/or background checks. Works with the hiring manager and HR Manager to extend job offers
- Conducts employee onboarding including new-employee orientations, benefits enrollment and ensuring a positive experience for the new hire
- Creates new hire and termination packets in alignment with state and federal regulations
- Manages HR shared email inbox
- Receive and distribute all incoming HR mail
- Escalate employee complaints to HR management
- Completes EDD forms and audits
- Recognizes and brings attention to any business and personnel risk
- Assists with benefits enrollment and administration
- Assists in coordination of mandated trainings such as Anti-Harassment
- Maintains department records and reports in HR systems and paper files where necessary
- Supports with payroll process with HR management
- Participates in HR meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
- Facilitates Leaves of Absences including FMLA, CFRA, PDL and ADAAA. Answers employee questions regarding leave of absences policies and procedures and tracks employees on LOA in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws
- Minimum of 10 hours CRA volunteer hours per year. Volunteer hours are typically scheduled within business hours. This is compensable time and mileage is reimbursed
- Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibility: None.
Qualifications: - Minimum 2 years' experience in a Human Resources with specialized knowledge in the areas of recruitment, benefits administration, leaves of absence, payroll and HR systems (Paylocity)
- Comprehensive understanding of local, state and federal employment laws, and best practices
- Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines
- Outstanding organizational and conflict management skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency using MS Office, MS Word, Excel and email and calendar systems
- HRCI or SHRM certification desired
- BA degree in human resources, business, psychology or related fields or combination of equivalent education/experience desired
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: The incumbent in the course of performing this position frequently spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, operating basic business equipment, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, walking, standing, reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, client contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions. The incumbent for this position will occasionally lift up to 15 pounds, pull, squat, kneel and reach. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which they are free to move about at will. The work environment is typically quiet to a moderate noise level.
