**Responsibilities**

The Apprentice Engineer provides maintenance skills development, including preventive maintenance and repairs to the building, grounds, related equipment, and installations under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and/or Assistant Engineer. The role involves applying DIGNITY HEALTH Core Values to every job duty.

+ Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to individuals by name when appropriate and screens individuals by requesting identification.

+ Works with minimal supervision.

+ Organizes and completes assigned work in a timely manner.

+ Interacts with internal and external customers in line with Core Values.

+ Fosters teamwork and shares workload effectively.

+ Communicates positively and demonstrates a caring attitude toward the unit, peers, staff, patients, and contacts.

+ Seeks guidance and assistance when needed and recognizes appropriate communication channels.

+ Uses a problem-solving approach to resolve job-related issues.

+ Listens, comprehends, and responds promptly to directions.

+ Maintains confidentiality of all patient and hospital information, communications, and documents.

+ Participates in orientation of new staff and assists in training students as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Experience:**

+ 1-2 years of experience, with at least 1 year in a related field (preferred).

**Education:**

+ Acceptance into & successful participation in the I.U.O.E. Stationary Engineers Local 39 Union Engineer Apprenticeship program.

**Licensure:**

+ Valid California Driver's License.

**Training:**

+ Completion of annual safety training.

+ Completion and maintenance of required unit-specific training.

**Pay Range**

$30.00 - $75.00 /hour
