Job Description: Construction Manager

Position Summary

The Construction Supervisor is responsible for managing on-site construction activities, ensuring safety, adherence to design plans and code, and meeting quality standards. This role oversees subcontractors, provides daily progress and quality reports, and reports deviations from drawings to resolve site issues. The supervisor is accountable for all safety and quality aspects of site construction.

This hybrid role is open to applicants in California only, with a preference for Northern CA.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a background in electrical and civil construction, experience working with subcontractors, and the ability to communicate effectively with them. The candidate should be an innovative, collaborative leader with strong business acumen, capable of translating challenges into actionable solutions in a complex, evolving environment. Building trust, credibility, and inspiring teams are essential. The candidate should be action-oriented, resourceful, approachable, and capable of leading significant change.

  • Collaborate with operations, project teams, engineers, and subcontractors to deliver safe, quality work within project timelines.
  • Review and understand drawings, ensuring construction aligns with plans, codes, and project requirements.
  • Advise supervisors and engineering teams of deviations or issues to plan corrective actions.
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized job site.
  • Complete assigned tasks and follow up on incomplete ones.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications.

Education and Experience

  • Journeyman or Apprentice experience with a desire for licensure growth.
  • Proven leadership in learning, challenging the status quo, and achieving results.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in the field within the EV, energy, and technology industries.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and supervisory skills to meet schedule, scope, and budget.
  • Ability to understand business needs, drive stakeholder buy-in, and foster collaboration with contractors.
  • 90% travel required.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local utility and AHJ code requirements.
