Senior Manager, Environmental Sustainability

This position leads the global design and implementation of sustainability programs focusing on Disney Consumer Products within Disney Experiences. The role drives sustainable product improvement, measurement, and communications across global DCP businesses, including vertically developed, wholesale, and licensed products.

Role Overview

2030 Environmental Goals & Public Commitments

  • Drive strategy, roll-out plans, and training programs to develop more sustainable products with internal teams, suppliers, and licensees in line with TWDC 2030 goals on materials and emissions (scope 3).
  • Deploy product, packaging, and manufacturing goals, working with global cross-functional teams to align with strategy, licensing, brand, creative, packaging, product development, legal, supply chain, and other stakeholders.
  • Implement formal engagement programs (“supplier engagement”) to licensees to help them understand scope 3 emissions and set Science-Based Targets.
  • Lead a small technical team supporting DCP sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment among teams working on DCP sustainability (materials, packaging, product integrity), even if they do not report directly to you.
  • Coordinate objectives between enterprise CSR, Global Public Policy (GPP), and other global teams on sustainability policies.
  • Develop business processes, measurement, and compliance systems to track sustainability KPIs for CSR reports, dashboards, and other reporting frameworks.
  • Collaborate with global DCP teams, including legal and licensing leaders, to ensure a consistent approach and effective deployment.

Sustainability Messaging

  • Work with communications teams to develop sustainability communication programs aligned with TWDC branding efforts.
  • Protect against greenwashing risks and provide global expertise on product-specific environmental and sustainability claims, ensuring compliance with legal, policy, and brand standards.
  • Partner with marketing and other teams on sustainability communications.
  • Monitor evolving policies to deliver best-in-class sustainability messaging.

Technical, Partner & Relationships

  • Provide technical expertise on cross-category sustainability initiatives, including packaging, hardlines, softlines, and consumables.
  • Serve as a technical expert on product sustainability attributes, certifications, and lifecycle environmental impacts.
  • Stay current on industry and innovative material trends, bringing insights back to business teams for future product development.
  • Foster relationships with key global licensees and trade organizations on topics like scope 3, plastics, sustainable packaging, and science-based targets.
  • Lead and partner with sourcing and supply chain teams on sustainability strategies.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive sustainability experience in government, corporate, or professional services settings.
  • Preferred: Direct experience in consumer products or retail.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, public policy, or related fields required.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in environmental science.

The salary range in Glendale, CA is $151,000 - $202,500 annually, with actual offers based on internal equity, geographic location, skills, and experience. Compensation may include bonuses, incentives, and comprehensive benefits.
