Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO of a privately held (PE Backed) provider of transportation, trucking services, warehousing, and value-added services intended for the wine, food, and beverage industry. The organization continues to expand and grow both organically and through acquisition. The organization utilizes leading-edge information technology, standardized for the logistics industry, and tailored to the customer's needs, increases supply chain efficiency, reduces costs, and gives the customers a competitive advantage in the global marketplace.
The GM, Transportation is responsible for operating and growing the Transportation business segment for the organization including asset and non-asset transportation. Will have complete P&L and reporting structure of 4-5 Direct reports including Sales, Dispatch, Operations, Maintenance, Driver Management and Safety and over 40 full time employees. The individual will also monitor transportation costs, service level agreements, and performance metrics to identify and resolve problems, optimize the network, and achieve efficiency and growth. The long-term focus is to minimize costs utilizing transportation optimization methodologies and improve service to support revenue growth. The challenge is to successfully grow the transportation business segment profitably while maintaining profitability. This will be hands on, “roll up your sleeves” opportunity. The organization will also continue to deploy an aggressive M&A strategy along with organic growth to achieve strong financial performance and service to its customers.
