POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Warehouse & Logistics is responsible for organizing, coordinating and optimizing all activities of logistics and warehouse. He/she will lead a team of warehouse and logistics professionals and partner across key functions of the organization to drive excellence in our inventory and logistics strategy and execution in order to support our business growth.

Import & Export (20%)

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of import & export professionals to ensure the fastest and lowest possible routes to Customers, LA Warehouses and Factories.
  • Lead, coach and mentor the team to work close with HQ IE and to ensure we have the best contracts with carriers.
  • Lead, coach and mentor the team to work close with Customs brokers, drayage companies, and 3PL to have the lowest and best solutions to our handling and storage.
  • Implement and maintain controls to ensure compliance with US import and export regulations.

Logistics (30%)

  • Develop logistics strategic plan with long-term vision, goals, and objectives; and a business plan with initiatives and tactics to achieve the vision.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and trends, and incorporate applicable aspects into the logistics strategy and business plan.
  • Define and implement high service standards for all logistics service providers.
  • Control and monitor transportation/freight issues in a national and global environment; take proactive actions to minimize expected issues and minimize risks and costs.
  • Develop budgets, cost controls and obtain data regarding both internal and external business metrics and perform financial analysis of the operational expenses.
  • Build up and maintain good relationships with business partners, carriers, and vendors and negotiate cost-effective transportation contracts.

Warehouse (30%)

  • Lead design and implementation of sound warehouse management – warehouse team will efficiently and effectively handling all inbound and outbound of Raw Materials, Packing Materials and Finished Goods.
  • Develop and implement strategies that drive significant inventory turns improvement.
  • Build, lead, manage and hold accountable a warehouse team responsible for maintenance, customer satisfaction via accurate fulfillment, on-time delivery and warehouse organization/safety.
  • Ensure profitable outcomes by developing and managing projects, processes and continuous improvements.
  • Managing of 3PL.

Leadership (20%)

  • Provide leadership and direction to staff with an emphasis on talent development, teamwork, and job satisfaction; conduct annual evaluations and development planning; lead recruitment, hiring, promotion/demotion, disciplinary counseling, and termination or reassignment activities.
  • Organize staff and resources to execute initiatives and tactics effectively and efficiently, and monitor and report progress; elevate issues and concerns timely.
  • Lead and direct the team to have continuous improvement in Import & Export, warehouse and transportation management.
  • Drive operational excellence to minimize costs while realizing productivity increase; work with Headquarters and zone leaders to create and implement continuous improvement in all aspects of performance.
  • Develop open communication channels with all other functions.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for function related Capex projects, annual budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing on improving customer relations.
  • Responsible for activities that ensure food safety, authenticity, integrity, and quality.
  • Perform special related projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position manages a few direct reports and must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; career planning for the team and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field is required; an advanced technical degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Must have 10+ years of hands-on, solid logistics and warehouse management experience including 5+ years in a managerial role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) is highly preferred.
  • In-depth, direct experience with the implementation and use of commercially available ERP systems is required.
  • Understanding of the end to end Supply Chain and independencies across all functions is required.
  • Experience and knowledge of lean manufacturing/operational excellence is required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SAP or any ERP systems.
  • Ability to develop, coach and guide a leadership team in the execution, development of strategies leading to the achievement of company Key Performance Indicators is required.
  • Proven experience in developing and nurturing relationships with critical partners is required.
  • Ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization is required.
  • Demonstrate experience with best practices related to Operations and Supply Chain for consumer packaged goods (CPG) is required.
  • Must have good analytical and critical thinking skills; able to define problems through data gathering and analysis, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet all deadlines; follow through and handle multiple tasks/projects.
  • Ability to develop, coach, counsel, and manage subordinators and build effective teams to support the function objectives.
  • Must be able to work independently in cross-functional teams to achieve goals.
  • A thorough understanding of diverse work ethics and cultures in international business environments is essential.
  • Direct knowledge of import/export regulation as pertained to FDA-regulated products is highly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Fluent in English is required; bilingual in English and Cantonese/Mandarin or English and Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate clearly, accurately and with impact.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as pay rates, increases, commissions, percentages, deductions, and adjustments.
  • Ideal candidate must be able to apply mathematical concepts to perform payroll function.
