We are seeking an experienced Sr. Account Manager with a background in FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment) or experience working in construction or A&D (Architecture & Design) firms to join our team.
In this role, you will report to the Sr. Account Manager, Team Lead in our San Francisco location and be responsible for managing and growing client accounts, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions, and supporting our operational and financial goals. Your experience in FF&E and understanding of the construction or A&D industry will play a key role in maintaining strong client relationships and driving business success.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand team roles and responsibilities for internal and external personnel.
- Create and execute sound project plans and effectively manage project deliverables, milestones, client interactions, pricing negotiations, trade coordination, and internal resources (Design, PC, and PM).
- Mitigate margin erosion throughout the project by managing jobs to safeguard and improve profitability.
- Perform accurate pricing estimates for products, labor, and services.
- Incorporate best practices for managing each aspect of the project effectively, from quote to invoice.
- Maximize efficiency through best practice processes and technology usage.
- Communicate effectively with team members, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
- Increase client satisfaction and retention.
- Mentor, train, and assist with up-leveling Jr. level teammates.
Manage the Sales Process and Own the Client Relationships
- Implement strategies to qualify and secure business within assigned and self-generated accounts.
- Own client relationships and manage client expectations.
- Collaborate with internal KBM-Hogue team members to ensure we are meeting client expectations, goals, and deadlines.
- Support business development by participating in RFPs, new project interviews, industry engagements, and pre-project selling efforts.
- Engage internal team members at appropriate points during the project process, i.e., Designers, Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Marketing, and Finance.
- Support the A&D firm and other industry influencers as required.
- Demonstrate ongoing knowledge and professional expertise in the Contract Furniture Industry, well versed in Dealer Services, MillerKnoll, ancillary furniture, open-line product solutions, design concepts, and trends.
- Attend product and sales training and meetings.
- Oversee and drive the activities involved in the planning, programming, order fulfillment, and installation processes.
- Manage and oversee total sales volume of $5M+ per bookings year or equivalent in project complexity.
- Capable of managing larger scale, more complex project scopes with more autonomy.
- Manage and update sales forecasting and CRM entries (Zendesk) for assigned accounts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Participate in Planning, Programming, Selection, Budgets, and Proposals
- Assist in gathering programming information and ensure proper implementation of requests.
- Create and participate in the generation of project deliverables such as lookbooks, schedules, budgets, finish reviews, proposals, specs, pricing, status reports, etc.
- Participate in product evaluations, demos, presentations, and tours.
- Interface with vendors for product, lead time, and pricing information.
- Generate budgets and pricing structures and negotiate discounts (with input from the General Manager or Business Developer as required).
- Participate in accurate and complete bid and proposal responses.
- Submit bids/proposals and other documents in a timely fashion to clients.
- Perform quality checks of pricing, specifications, drawings, and team deliverables.
- Obtain sign-offs, deposits, applicable client purchase orders, Ts and Cs, and client paperwork.
Provide Project Management Support Through Closeout of the Project
- Provide Project Management coordination as appropriate for each account.
- Interface and communicate with the client, PMs, Design (Business Developer if applicable), contractor, trades, and install company.
- Attend pre-install, construction, and project meetings.
- Keep the team updated on the status, timeline, and required action steps.
- Ensure that site visits are conducted to verify field measurements, critical dimensions, voice/data/electrical locations, and if the space is ready.
- Own and oversee the coordination, progress, and completion of the installation and punch list in conjunction with KBM Hogue field project manager.
- Provide prompt and courteous follow-up of delinquent invoices as directed.
- Travel to project sites as required.
Assure Customer Satisfaction, Maintain and Develop New Relationships
- Assure a thorough orientation of the product and complete closeout of the job to the customer's satisfaction.
- Assist KBM Hogue teams and customers with the resolution of any ongoing major service or performance issues.
- Maintain relationships, keep customers educated on new products and dealer services, and help determine future needs and budgets.
- Penetrate the account; pursue and develop new relationships with key contacts, other divisions, or departments to uncover and pursue potential new business opportunities.
- Focus on client engagement and community outreach, setting the tone of being present in the market.
Mentorship, Training and Development
- Always maintain a mentorship mindset.
- Assist with the training and development of junior team members.
- Participate in team meetings, lead weekly project meetings, one-on-one's department meetings, and roundtable discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Successful account management/project management experience of 5+ years or comparable related experience and education
- Has interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with clients and KBM-Hogue internal personnel: team player
- Demonstrates commitment to professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment in conducting business transactions and providing the highest level of client satisfaction
- High level of empathy for the customer
- Superior organizational skills to simultaneously monitor multiple complex projects
- Availability for evening and weekend work when needed
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, and Windows environments, including CRM
- Understands KBM-Hogue's standing in the community and abides by our strong core values and beliefs
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 0-10 pounds at times.
- Travel: 0 - 5%; travel to the local KMB Hogue office (San Jose, San Francisco, and Sacramento), client sites, and overnight domestic travel may be required.

The base salary range for this role is $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually. In addition, as a Sr. Account Manager, the position is eligible for KBM Hogue's Sales bonus plan. This range reflects the anticipated compensation for the role at the time of this posting, but actual compensation may vary based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The salary range may be adjusted in the future, and we will provide notice of any changes in compliance with applicable laws.
