Job Summary & Primary Responsibilities:
As a member of the Direct Marketing & Tasting Room team, you will manage an assigned database of over 3,000 customers. A key aspect of your daily responsibilities will be maintaining strong relationships with these customers, a practice we call “showing the love.”
In addition to nurturing existing relationships, you will focus on expanding your database by engaging with guests during in-person tastings—whether in private rooms, at small tasting stations, or at our vibrant tasting bars. This is a vital opportunity to introduce new customers to our wine clubs and grow your database.
You will reach out to customers through email, text, and phone calls, connecting with current wine club members and generating referrals from satisfied customers. Your goal will be to foster meaningful relationships through exceptional hospitality and personal interactions, all while working toward achieving sales targets.

Daily Job Requirements:

  1. Customer Engagement: Reach out to existing customers via phone or email to inform them about special offers, new wine releases, and highly rated wines they may be interested in.
  2. Sales Expertise: Utilize strong sales skills through phone and email communication, with a proven record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  3. Customer Service Excellence: Provide outstanding service to guests both on the phone and in person, ensuring a memorable experience.
  4. Wine Club Enrollment: Promote our exclusive wine club through email, phone, and in-person interactions to drive monthly sign-ups.
  5. Wine Tastings: Conduct engaging and professional wine tastings with the goal of driving sales and building lasting customer relationships.
  6. Achieve Sales Goals: Take ownership of reaching annual revenue targets, as well as member acquisition and retention goals, through effective phone and email communication.
  7. Winery Education: Share the winery's history, family legacy, and wine portfolio with guests during tastings and phone calls to deepen customer engagement.
  8. Tasting Room Operations: Follow established procedures for opening and closing tasting bars, conducting proper tastings and overall customer service expectations during your assigned shifts.

  3. Wine Passion & Education: Possess a passion for wine and educate customers and wine club members on their wine needs through suggestive selling and upselling techniques.
  4. Relationship Building: Engage and nurture long-term relationships with current customers and wine club members to ensure loyalty.
  5. Database Management: Efficiently manage your assigned customer database in an organized and timely manner.
  6. Weekend & Evening Availability: Must be available to work weekends and occasional evenings for special events as scheduled.
  7. Desire to Learn & Grow: Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow, benefiting from training rooted in 150 years of Ledson family sales experience.

Qualifications:
  1. Outgoing & Positive Personality: Must possess a positive, outgoing personality, with respect, honesty, and integrity at the forefront of all interactions.
  2. Proven Sales Experience: Ability to successfully sell over the phone or via email, with a proven sales record.
  3. Customer Service & Retention: Strong understanding of customer service and the importance of retention.
  4. Wine Knowledge: Wine knowledge is a plus, or a desire to expand knowledge through research and participation in staff tastings.
  5. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  6. Work Ethic & Integrity: Strong work ethic and high level of integrity.
  7. Technical Skills: Basic computer knowledge, including familiarity with Outlook and AMS, is a plus.
  8. Professional Appearance & Demeanor: Must always maintain and present a professional appearance and demeanor.
  9. Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and/or stand for an 8-hour shift, lift 40 lbs. as needed.
  10. Screening: Must be able to pass a drug and background screening.

Compensation:
Position Type: Full-time
Hourly Rate: $20-26 per hour, with additional earnings from monthly bonuses based on sales. Current sales staff bonuses range from $10,000 to $42,000 per year, depending on monthly performance.
