Position Title: Scientist, Array R&D


Position Type: 6-month contract


Pay rate: $35-40/ hour.

Overview

The Scientist I, Array R&D is responsible for supporting Biochip Array R&D activities, including oligonucleotide preparations and performing routine PCR. This is a central role with high visibility and involves good communication across all groups. You will establish a collaborative environment that values equity of voice, inclusive behaviors, and trusting teams. This position will be located on-site in Sunnyvale, CA.


Responsibilities:

  • Handle automated liquid handler to prepare dilutions of oligonucleotides.
  • Perform routine PCRs, review results, and provide support with troubleshooting, problem solving,g and improving processes across multi-functional teams.
  • Manage inventory of oligonucleotides and commonly used lab supplies and chemicals.
  • Maintain equipment information, equipment procedures, calibration records, user logbooks, and scheduling activities.
  • Collect, document, summarize,e and communicate data/trends on a regular basis.
  • Assist and coordinate new equipment procurement and installation.
  • Assist in PO invoice resolution and perform tasks related to safety and compliance initiatives in the lab as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biological Sciences AND 2+ years of industrial experience.
  • Proficiency and accuracy in using pipettes and handling small volume preparations.
  • Experience with using analytical techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, pH measurements, etc.
  • Experience with characterization of PCR and DNA microarray performance is a plus.
  • Experience with the use of liquid handlers is a plus.
  • Experience working in regulated environments such as GMP or CLIA is a plus
