The Spirit of the Position:


Manager on Duty: LAZ will staff a manager on duty / assistant Manager on duty onsite 24 hours per day and will have oversight of LAZ route service operations during their assigned shift.


Principal Job Duties:


  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to bus operators, ensuring efficient and effective route service and performance. Supervise and manage bus operators to include training, coaching, meal and rest break assignment – management, and real time route performance via effective dispatching.
  • Assign fleet buses to operators upon reporting for duty.
  • Ensure operators are in possession of required credentials prior to entering service.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with operators assigned to your shift to ensure effective route service, on time performance, and support.
  • Understand, implement, and deliver all requirements that are outlined within the contractual agreement between LAZ Parking and our clients
  • The safety of all personnel and equipment
  • Ensuring the proper direction to bus operators working on assigned shift.
  • Ensuring team are following all LAZ and LAWA SOPs and policies
  • Real time dispatching of operators in service on route.
  • Assigning operators meal break and rest times, ensuring required route frequencies are maintained with appropriate route supply.
  • Reporting all significant incidents, occurrences, and operational needs to management.
  • Ensuring the timely and safe assistance of all ADA guests
  • Receive and document all call outs with the stated reason
  • Document all “left early” cases and state the reason
  • Maintain a positive and professional work environment
  • Communicate any accidents, incidents, and injuries to the Operations Manager immediately. MOD / AMOD are required to fill out a written incident report statement for any accidents, incidents, and injuries.
  • Review operator daily trip sheets, inspection reports, and other shift documentation at the operator's end of shift to ensure appropriate completion of paperwork.


Skills:


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and possess the ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-moving operation. Must be able to demonstrate successful leadership experience in a previous management role within commercial bus transportation operations.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively with subordinates, leadership team members, and senior project management. Must possess real time commercial bus route dispatching experience.
  • Ability to be approachable and facilitate coaching conversations with employees and managers. Ability to mitigate and lead others to overcome challenges (Never Ever Give Up Attitude).
  • Strong ability for problem-solving, real time incident resolution, and direct mitigation of operational issues.
  • Excellent team building and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively work well with others.
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task. Ability to be self-supervised.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and timeliness.
  • Capable of professionally handling employee conflicts.
  • Ability to be approachable and facilitate coaching conversations with employees.

Physical Demands:

  • Willingness to work in the elements – heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
  • Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
  • Ability bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
